I’ve been talking to groups of women, small businesses, and non-profits about how to attract the media and put themselves in front of thousands of new customers.
Always looking for more speaking engagements, I was honored when George Satula connected with me to speak to his TEC – The Executive Committee groups. TEC is part of Vistage Worldwide which provides leadership development and business mentoring for CEOs of much larger companies. George is the chair of three groups.
George and I met at Milwaukee Business Journal’s “Book of List” party which I almost didn’t attend.
Thankfully, I ran into MBJ Editor Mark Kass at lunch that day and he insisted I come because the party is given for the “list” of top companies. Since I haven’t been in the business world very long, Mark knew I didn’t quite understand the magnitude of networking at this party. He was right.
Networking face-to-face…actually meeting people can make a big difference for your business.
I was grateful to speak with this group of mostly CEOs who run larger companies and don’t necessarily need to attract the media but definitely need to know how to handle the media.
Here’s some video from my presentation.
While my information is really useful for attracting any audience, I’m now adapting and adding more content for this new larger company audience. Besides teaching them how to have the right “Signature Statement” already prepared, I’ll explain why you should NOT answer a reporter’s call right away. Instead, you need to know:
What are the three questions you should ask any reporter before you answer their questions?
Many of my coaching clients have truly appreciated this type of prep work. Remember YOU are in charge of your message and you owe it to yourself to spend some time creating what you want to say before you’re put on the spot.
As a former investigative reporter, I know my media training can help you.
